Giles Volvo El Paso’s sales team fields a lot of questions about whether the V60 or V60 Cross Country is a better choice, so we’ve assembled information about what’s the same and, more importantly, what’s different between these two striking vehicles.
What’s the Same
You might be surprised to learn that the starting price for the Cross Country falls right in line with the V60. Here are the available trim levels and their starting prices:
Volvo V60
Momentum - $41,595
R-Design - $47,045
Inscription - $47,045
The Volvo V60 Cross Country has a single available trim level, the T5 AWD, that has a starting price of $45,450.
Both vehicles come with a Direct Injected Turbocharged engine that delivers 250 HP. The V60 offers a combined MPG of 27 while the Cross Country gives you 25 combined. While there is a difference, it’s not likely one that would sway a buyer one way or the other.
The cargo space and leg room is also identical. Both offer:
- 60.5 cubic square feet of cargo space
- 42.3 inches of front leg room
- 35.2 inches of rear leg room
Tech
A new processing system was added in 2019, so the 9-inch touchscreen boots up faster and handles your requests more easily. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard as is the 12.3-inch instrument panel display.
Safety
Volvo has always excelled in this department, and the V60 and Cross Country are no exceptions. The vehicles boast safety features such as:
Speed Limiter Electronic Stability Control Brakes with Hill Assist Power Parking Brake IntelliSafe Surround Rear Collision Warning BLIS™ (Blind Spot Information with Steer Assist) Lane Keeping Aid Run-Off Road Mitigation Driver Alert ControlThe Important Differences
If you drive on more challenging roads, you’ll definitely want the Cross Country as it offers all-wheel drive as opposed to the V60’s front-wheel drive.
The suspension on the Cross Country gives the vehicle an additional 2.5 inches of ground clearance (8.3 inches total), as well as better overall handling, so you won’t feel every bump along the way.
Another addition to the Cross Country that you won’t find on the V60 is a drive mode called Off-Road. It’s intended for low-speed use and will automatically disengage once the vehicle reaches 25 MPH. When engaged, the hill descent and traction controls are activated.
